What is Neurofeedback Therapy?

Neurofeedback therapy uses EEG sensors that are placed on the scalp. While listening to music, the sensors monitor brainwaves. When the EEG recognizes stress patterns or turbulence in thought, the music is interrupted. The brain recognizes the change, assesses that there is no need for stress, and relaxes, which turns the music back on.

Repetitive interrupting of habitual stress followed by relaxation retrains the brain to maintain calm and focus. With new patterns, the brain learns to focus on the present rather than recycle old patterns of stress and anxiety. Outcomes include enhanced memory and focus, decreased impulsivity and anxiety, better mental clarity, more restful sleep, improved mood, and a host of other benefits after using neurofeedback without side effects!

It is a gradual training process working toward optimal mental functioning over the course of a series of sessions for life long change. As training progresses, clients should be aware that their need for medications may change. It is important for clients to communicate with their prescribing physician regarding their progress and medication dosage needs.

Fees for Neurofeedback

Twenty sessions are considered an average course of training, but each individual is different. Neurofeedback is unique and personalized to each person. 10 sessions may be appropriate for one person, where as 30 sessions may be the optimal number for another.
